A second world war casualty medal group awarded to c/KX 95633 Stoker 1st Class Frederick Philip George French, Royal Navy, who was sadly killed in action on 1/6/1941, when HMS Calcutta was sunk by air attack while helping with the evacuation of Crete.

The medals are in good condition and come with original box of issue and condolence slip. The box is addressed to Mr FJ French, 122 Cecil Avenue, Ardleigh Green, Hornchurch, Essex.

HMS Calcutta (D82) was a C Class Light Cruiser launched in 1918 and sunk by JU 88 bombers on 01/06/1941 while helping with the evacuation of Crete.
