A second world war HMS Anking casualty medal group awarded to Canteen Assistant Frederick Symon Nicholson, Navy, Army & Air Force Institutes, who sadly died on 3/3/1942 when HMS Anking was sunk by gunfire.

The medals come with original condolence slip to Fred Symon Nicholson and box of issue which has had the address removed. Also included is an original NAAFI cap badge numbered 13777.
Frederick Symon Nicholson was serving on HMS Anking when she was intercepted by Japanese cruisers and sunk by gunfire on 3rd March 1942, about 200 miles east of Christmas Island. Sixteen survivors were picked up four days later but sadly Nicholson didn't survive.
