A 3 clasp MGSM to Private Hugh Conroy, 44th Regt of Foot.
Military General Service Medal (Clasps - Fuentes d'Onor, Badajoz, Salamanca) named to Hugh Conroy, 44th Foot.
Hugh Conroy enlisted into the 44th Regiment of Foot on 13.09.1806, aged 18. He served with the 2nd Battalion in the Peninsula and at Waterloo, but was transferred afterwards to the 1st Battalion before being discharged to pension from the Kilmainham Hospital on 29.05.1816. The admission book states that he was suffering from a ‘fractured olecranon [elbow] & partial dislocation, and slightly wounded at Waterloo’.
The medal has some minor contact marks and edge bruising. Notably two small edge knocks above HUGH which don't affect the naming. Otherwise the medal is in good condition. Please see photos.
Comes with copy page of MGS roll confirming entitlement, copy of Kilmainham Hospital register and DNW invoice from December 2013 where this medal was previously sold.
