A scarce early first world war POW casualty medal group to 7827 Private Matthew Scott Maltby, 1st Battalion, Lincolnshire Regt.

British War Medal named to 7827 Pte. M.S. Maltby. Linc. R.
WW1 Victory Medal named to 7827 Pte. M.S. Maltby. Linc. R.

Died - 21st December 1918 (Hamburg Cemetery)

Private Maltby was born in Hull, lived in Grimsby and enlisted in Lincoln. He was captured and taken prisoner of war on 24th August 1914 at Frameries, close to Mons. He died on 21st December 1918.

The medals are in good condition with ribbons.
