A first world war MM casualty medal group awarded to 7131 Bandsman (later Lance Corporal) Gwilym Williams, 2nd Battalion Welsh Regiment, who was sadly killed in action in 1916 and is remembered at Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval.

Gwilym Williams was born in Merthyr, Glamorgan. He served during the Great War with the 2nd Battalion, Welsh Regiment in the French theatre of war from 13th August 1914. Lance Corporal Williams was killed in action on the Western Front, 21st August 1916 when the Battalion were serving as part of the 3rd Brigade, 1st Division on the Somme.
The medals are in very good condition.
