London Gazette (D.C.M.):
11th March 1920
'From 15th September to 11th November, 1918, he has shown considerable gallantry and devotion to duty. He has worked his gun with great coolness under fire, and with great success in firing on the enemy in the open, and has set a fine example to all.'
With the group is a copy of a newspaper article about his award which states that 'he was wounded on two occasions, and also gassed.'.
The medals show some signs of polishing to the high points but are overall in good condition.
