Killed In Action - 26th June 1941 (Tower Hill Memorial)
S.S. Empire Ability was hit by a torpedo fired by U-69. She caught fire and sank in about 20 minutes. The Master, 60 crew members, two gunners, 17 military personnel and 27 passengers were rescued by MV Amerika and transferred to HMS Burdock but two crew members including James Russell Burns lost their lives.
The medals are in good condition and have been mounted on card backing for display.
Comes with original box of issue and condolence slip.
