This collection contains Proof specimens of the circulating range of united Kingdom coins for 2000 and includes a commemorative celebrating the new millennium as well as a special fifty pence coin marking the 150th Anniversary of the Public Libraries Act of 1850. The reverse of the £2, symbolic of technological progress from the Iron Age to the Internet, made its debut in 1997 and that of the £1 coin represents Wales, being part of a series honouring the four constituent countries of the United Kingdom.
A maximum of 100,000 collections were issued for worldwide distribution.
