A first and second world war medal group of six awarded to Merchant Seaman Albert Knott, Merchant Navy.

The medals are in good condition and are swing mounted for wear. 

Albert Knott was born on 23rd March 1886 in Prittlewell, Southend, Essex.

The 1891 census the family were living at 39 Thames Street, Greenwich

The 1901 census shows the 16 year old Albert living with his parents George and Eliza at 74 Norman Street, St Paul's, Greenwich, London. His profession shown as “Van boy in oil mills”

Albert married Sarah Elizabeth Godsell on June 6, 1906 at St Katherine’s Church, Rotherhithe London. He is shown as a “Ship’s Fireman” his home address given as 21 High Street, Deptford, Kent.

The 1911 census shows Albert and Sarah Knott living at 3 Belmont Road, Grays, Essex. At which time they had one child, Nellie, born about 1905/6 at Greenwich. They were living with the family of William and Adelaide Matthews.

Albert’s profession in the Merchant Navy was a Fireman and Greaser.
