An Indian Mutiny Medal awarded to 2562 Sergeant William Miles. 81st (Loyal Lincoln Volunteers) Regiment of Foot.
Indian Mutiny Medal named to Wm. Miles, H M's 81st Regt.
William Miles is shown on the British army list 1861 as a Sergeant. A note with the medal states that research by Mr D. Lloyd and Mr. K.J. Asplin, shows he was promoted to Corporal on 18th March 1858, Sgt. on 25/2/1861 and to Colour Sgt on 22/1/1864.
He cannot be found on the medal roll but it is believed there are supplementary rolls which he may be on.
The medal is in good condition.
