A second world war casualty medal group awarded to 954118 Gunner Alfred George Leach, 4 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, who died of wounds at El Alamein on 23/7/1942 and is remembered at El Alamein War Cemetery.

Comes with original box of issue from the Officer in Charge R.A. (Fd.) Records, addressed to Mrs C.G. Leach, 33 Marlborough Rd, Romford, Essex and condolence slip to Gnr. A.J. Leach. Please note the mistake with his middle initial, with it being A.J. and not A.G. 

Died of Wounds - 23rd July 1942 

954118 Gunner Alfred George Leach, 4 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery died of wound on July 23, 1942, age 25. Son of John Austin Leach and Charlotte Georgina Leach of Romford Essex. Buried in the El Alamein War Cemetery, Egypt, grave XXI.D.6.

The 1939 Register shows Alfred living with his parents John (b. September 8, 1876) and Charlotte (b. October 29, 1880) and sister Florence (b. December 23, 1915), at 33 Marlborough Road, Romford, Essex. His occupation a Builders Labourer and Special Constable 696 Essex.
