George Phillip Pepper was from Hexthorpe, Doncaster.

On the 26th April 1941 the Corinth Canal Bridge, held by three tanks and four platoons of men from RHQ, was attacked by over 1000 German glider and paratroops. They eventually overran the British but not before the bridge was successfully blown up.
