  'AT FESTUBERT 9/13th April 1918, this N.C.O. was in command of the right flank of an advanced post and repulsed several enemy attacks.
  On two occasions when the enemy effected an entry he ejected them by bombing, enabling the machine guns to destroy the remainder of the attack.
  Later he went out on patrol and personally brought back a German machine gun under heavy fire.
  Not recommended in the King's Birthday Honours Gazette.'

Bar to M.M. (Immediate Award) 
Recommended 21st June 1918
L.G. - 21st October 1918

  'For gallantry and determination during a raid at GIVENCHY on the night 12/13th June, 1918.
  This N.C.O. led his party to a point 50 yards down the C.T. beyond the enemy post which was being raided. He there established a block, engaging and beating off an enemy bombing party which attempted a counter attack.
  When the order to withdraw was given, Corpl. THOMAS did so in a skilful manner, being himself the last to leave the enemy trench.
  It was due to the N.C.O's skilful leading that this party successfully performed their task.' 

The medal has been polished to the high points but is otherwise in good condition.
