An Egypt Medal with Alexandria 11th July clasp awarded to 48290 Ordinary Seaman John Thomas Wakeham, Royal Navy
Egypt Medal 1882 (Clasp - Alexandria 11th July) named to J.T. Wakeham. Ord: H.M.S. "Sultan".
The medal is in good condition.
John Thomas Wakeham was born in Portsea, Hampshire on 10th March 1856. He joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in 1871.
On 6th April 1888, whilst serving on HMS Diamond, he was tried by court martial for Desertion. He pleaded guilty and was adjudged to be imprisoned with hard labour for one year.
