A first world war Victory Medal awarded to K.17903 Stoker 1st Class Alfred John Shearer, Royal Navy, who served on submarines during the first world war and served in the Merchant Navy in WW2, where he died on active service on 10/6/1944.

Alfred John Shearer was born 18th January 1892 in West Ham, London.
He joined the Royal Navy on 12th January 1913, discharged 10th May 1916 , he served on submarine H10 and was invalided whilst at the submarine base HMS Dolphin.
During WWII he served in the Merchant Navy and died whilst on active Service 10th June 1944.
