A scarce second world war medal group of four awarded to Leading Aircraftsman Archibald Martin Hennis, a member of the RAF Merchant Ship Fighter Unit. An unusual outfit that operated out of Speke Airport, Liverpool, now John Lennon International.

The medals are in good condition and come with original box of issue addressed to A.M. Hennis. Esq., 202 Capel Rd, Manor Park, E.12. London, together with RAF transmittal letter and 'ticker tape' medal entitlement slip.
This unit operated aircraft from Merchant Ships fitted with a catapult system. The pilot took off, usually in a Hawker Hurricane, went on the mission and on completion returned to the ship and ditched into the sea. The aircraft was usually lost.
Together with research including official RAF Disclosures record showing service history confirming unit and medal entitlement.
