A second world war Combined Ops medal group of four with original documents awarded to C/JX.376259 Able Seaman Douglas Roy Everett, Royal Navy, who served Combined Operations on LCI (Large) 289.

Comes with his original Certificate of Service, Gunner History Sheet, Order of release from Naval Service, an application form with a quantity of correspondence from the Office of the Prime Minister of Malta, Malta High Commission and Ministry of Defence relating to the Malta GC 50th Commemoration Medal including a signed letter from Rt Ho Lord James Callaghan and some original photographs. Also included is a home produced copy of ‘The Yugoslav Connection with HM LCI (L) 318’ by Douglas F. Francey sent to Douglas Roy Everett by the author. 

Douglas Roy Everett was born on the 14th of March 1924 is at Coggeshall. An Electricians mate, he volunteered to join the Royal Navy on the 5th of October 1942. After basic training at HMS Ganges and Pembroke, he joined HMS Dinosaur, the Combined Operations Training Establishment for major landing craft officers and major landing craft gunnery at Troon. Everett joined HMS Hamilcar, the Combined Operations base at Djedjelli, Algeria on the 4th of May 1943. He served as a Seaman Gunner on board (Combined Ops) Landing Craft Infantry (Large) LCI (L) 289 and participated in the landing of the Seaforth Highlanders at Cape Passero in Sicily and the Royal engineers at Reggio, Italy. He was later transferred to the books of HMS Copra (Combined Operations Pay Ratings and Accounts). He was released Class A on the 13th of May 1946 and lived in Braintree, Essex.
