The medals, in particular the IGS and Tibet Medal, have heavy contact marks which have partially obscured the naming. Please see photos.
Arthur Horace Taylor was born in Poplar, London, in 1876 and attested for the Royal Artillery in London on 13th February 1895. He was promoted Bombardier on 21st March 1901, Corporal on 29th March 1902, and Sergeant on 3rd February 1903. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in February 1913. He was discharged at his own request at Gosport on 6th April 1913, of which over 16 years were spent soldiering in India.
Re-enlisting in the Royal Field Artillery on 30th October 1914, following the outbreak of the Great War, Taylor served as a Battery Sergeant Major during the Great War on the Western Front from 19th May 1915, and was discharged, no longer physically fit for War service, on 13th September 1916, being awarded a Silver War Badge No. 61210.
