A Korean War British Empire Medal group of eight awarded to P/JX.157488 Petty Officer (T.D.I.) Cecil Owen Rowland, Royal Navy, who was awarded the BEM for dismantling a new type of mine in Korea.

The medals are in good condition. 

London Gazette:
BEM - 29th June 1951 "For courage and great determination in dismantling a new type of mine found during operations in Korea."

A new type of mine had been found by Americans. Unable to deal with it, Petty Officer Rowland along with two officers from HMS Charity were sent it and successfully dismantled it. Cecil Owen Rowland had served in the Navy for 15 years by then and was an expert on mines, torpedoes and depth charges.

Comes with copy London Gazette entry and copies of newspaper articles about the award.
