John Lawrence Callan was born on 31st January 1912 in Lanchester, Durham.
He enlisted in January 1932 as a Corporal in the Royal Signals. He was commissioned, 2nd Lieut 1945 RPC, Lt QM 1949 and Capt QM REME 1951.
