A first and second world war RN long service medal group of seven awarded to M.33956 Temporary Warrant Shipwright William Charles Burtonshaw, Royal Navy.

George V Royal Navy Long Service & Good Conduct Medal named to M.33956 W.C. Burtonshaw. Shpt.2. H.M.S. Dauntless. 

The medals are in good condition and are swing mounted for wear.

William Charles Burtonshaw was born on 17th December 1902 in Portsmouth.

He started his career as a "Naval Shipwright Apprentice" at Portsmouth Dockyard in 1918, therefore qualifying for the BWM. Signed on for continuous Service of 12 years  on 17th December 1920 and on completion of his apprenticeship in August 1923, was rated Shipwright Articifer 5th Class. Burtonshaw was awarded his LSGC on 2nd January 1936 whilst serving on HMS Dauntless as Shipwright 2nd Class. 

He was promoted Temporary Warrant Shipwright on 4th February 1943. Served on Free French Ship "Courbet" March 1943, "Mastodon" September 1943 and "Hawkins" August 1944. 

On the Retired List 20th November 1945.
