George VI Imperial Service Medal named to Bertram William Adams
Bertram (Bertie) Williams was born on 24th June 1888 in Botley, Hampshire.
He joined the Royal Navy in 1906 as a 2nd Cooks Mate and served in Somaliland and the Persian Gulf before being invalided from the Royal Navy on 6ht February 1913 (heart disease).
On the 5th December 1914, Adams enlisted into the 2/6th Hampshire Regiment (attd 1/4th). He entered Mesopotamia with the 4th Battalion on 22/10/1915. Captured at Kut-al-Amara, he was one of the few that survived captivity.
The roll for his NGS (Persian Gulf 1919-14) states that it was sent to "O.C. 2/4th Hampshire Regt 2nd Nov 1915.
His ISM was awarded for service with the R.N. Armament Depot, Priddy's Hard (L.G. 17/5/1949).
The medals are in good condition.
