A first world war Battle of Jutland MID and long service medal group of four awarded to Telegraphist Lieutenant Commander Samuel Lewington, Royal Navy, who served on HMS Iron Duke. 

1914-15 Star named to Wt. Tel. S. Lewington, R.N. 
British War Medal named to Wt. Tel. S. Lewington. R.N. 
WW1 Victory Medal (ewith MID oak leaf emblem) named to Wt. Tel. S. Lewington. R.N. 
George V Royal Naval Long Service & Good Conduct Medal named to 192752 Samuel Lewington. Act. C.P.O. (Tel). H.M.S. Queen. 

Mentioned in Lord Jellicoe's despatch of 24th June 1916:

 'Was in charge of the auxiliary W/T cabinet during the whole operations & carried out his work with conspicuous coolness & ability'.

Samuel Lewington was a Warrant Telegraphist serving on HMS Queen from August 1914 to February 1915. 

He then served on HMS Iron Duke, Fleet Flagship, Grand Fleet from February 1915 to May 1917, taking part in sweeps and patrols in the North Sea and was then present at the Battle of Jutland, for which he was mentioned in despatches. 

He was a Commissioned Telegraphist, 1st Oct 1923, Telegraphist Lieutenant, 10th Jan 1930 and a Telegraphist Liutenant Commander (Retired), 10th Jan 1938. 

The medals are in good condition and are swing mounted for wear.
