The medals are in good condition.
George Frederick Joseph Paterson was born on 26th March 1885, son of Colonel H. Paterson, 23rd Punjab Pioneers. He was educated at The Oratory School, Birmingham and at the R.M.C. Sandhurst. He received his first commission in 1904 and joined the 34th Sikh Pioneers , Indian Army in 1905. Served in the Great War in France, 1914-15 and in Mesopotamia, 1916-19. For his services he was twice mentioned in despatches and awarded the Military Cross (L.G. 14/1/16). Transferred to the Cantonments Department in 1919. Awarded the O.B.E. in 1926. Appointed Director of Military Lands and Cantonments, Defence Department, Government of India, 1935. Awarded the C.I.E. in 1937 and retired from the Indian Army in 1942.
