A rare first wold war 1916 MM group of three awarded to 24981 Corporal Wilson John Perrott, 4th (Balloon) Wing, Royal Flying Corps and 1st Balloon Section, Royal Air Force, who sadly died of disease on 29/10/18 and is remembered at Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport. 

George V Military Medal named to 24981 Cpl. W.J. Perrott. 4/Wing: R.F.C. 
British War Medal named to 24981 A.Sgt. W.J. Parott. R.A.F. 
WW1 Victory Medal name to 24981 A.Sgt. W.J. Parott. R.A.F. 

Please note the spelling of his surname on the BWM and VM. 

The medals are in good condition and are mounted for wear by Spink & Son Ltd. 

M.M. London Gazette - 12th March 1917
4th Balloon Wing Records of January 1917 states:
 'For conspicuous skill and devotion to duty. He has been employed in forward telephone exchanges and continually repaired lines under heavy shell fire, from June 1916.'

There were 167 MM's awarded to the Royal Flying Corps.

Died of Disease - 29th October 1918

Wilson John Perrott was born in 1885, the son of George and Mary J. Perrott, of Lower Blagdon Farm, Taunton. Before the Great War, he married Minnie and lived at 6 Belle Vue Terrace, East Reach, Taunton.

Having joined the Royal Flying Corps in March 1916, he served in France with 4th Balloon Wing, Royal Flying Corps and earned a well-deserved M.M. in the summer of 1916. He then transferred to the 1st Balloon Section, Royal Air Force.
