Alan Leslie Hardy served with the 14th Punjab Regiment in Burma during the Second World War, he served throughout the years of the Malayan Emergency at its height and was awarded the Colonial Police Medal in the New Years Honours List Jan. 1957

Comes with a photograph album with images from operations in Kedah in February 1947 showing the round up of communist suspects, some named, and listing the amount of arrests and killed, loose photographs showing official gatherings and parades, Officers Mess images including what appears to be a mock funeral commemorating Operation Hive in 1952, showing a mock up of a Communist terrorist in a coffin below the legend, ' Op Hive 1952 A.D., Here lies the body of Comrade Hive, Who tried so hard to stay alive, Our constant road blocks and Gurkha chasing, Put him here in this well made casing, And in this tale a moral lies, Without any grub one surely dies, Born 20th Aug. '52, died on 21st Nov. '52' ( Operation Hive was a major sweep in Seremban by the Special Air Service Regiment ( Malayan Scouts ) together with two Battalions of Gurkhas, and a company of Fijian infantry, combined with food denial techniques restricting the amount of food available to the insurgents), also included are group photographs of Malayan Police and officials, and a typewritten report on British Malay and Oriental Rubber Company's properties dated 9/12/45 describing the condition of workers, buildings and machinery after the Japanese occupation.
