A rare first world war, hallmarked silver, officer's field service cap badge for the Suffolk Regiment.
Smaller than the usual cap badge. Hallmarks are for Birmingham 1917.
Has the makers mark B.H.J. for Barnet Henry Joseph & Co. on the reverse as well as Carrington & Co. London.
The badge is referenced in Colin Churchill's book "History of the British Army Collar Badge" Ref No. 396, where he states that it is a cap badge.
In good condition complete with lugs.
