Zur Erinnerung an die mehrmontige heldenhafte
Verteidigung von Cholm gegen einen zahlenmäßig überlegenen Feind stiftete de
Führer am 1. Juli 1942 den Cholmscild. Der Cholmschild, der zur Uniform am
linken Oberam getragen wird, wird verliehen als Kampfabzeichen an alle
Wehmachtangehörigen und der Wehrmachtunterstellten Personen, die in dem
eingeschlossenen Raum un Cholm an dem Verteidigungskampf ehrenvoll beteiligt
waren. Die verleihung vollzieht im Namen des Führers der Verteidiger von Cholm,
Generalmajor Scherer. Die Verteidigung von Cholm dauerte vom 21. Januar 1942
bis 5. Mai 1942. Den Cholmschild erhält, wer innerhalb dieser Zeit in dem
eingeschlossenen Raum an der Verteidigung ehrenvoll beteilgt war. Zur
Verteidigung zählt auch Landung im eingeschlossenen Raum, jedoch nicht
Durchführung der Versorgung auf dem Luftwege mittels Abwurf.
TRANSLATED: To commemorate the heroic defense of Cholm
against a numerically superior enemy, the Führer established the Cholm Shield
on July 1, 1942. The Cholm Shield, worn on the left upper arm of the uniform,
is awarded as a combat badge to all members of the Wehrmacht and those
subordinate to the Wehrmacht who honorably participated in the defensive
struggle in the besieged area around Cholm. The award is presented in the name
of the Führer of the defenders of Cholm, Major General Scherer. The defense of
Cholm lasted from January 21, 1942, to May 5, 1942. The Cholm Shield is awarded
to anyone who honorably participated in the defense of the besieged area during
this time. Landing in the besieged area is considered defense, but not the
provision of supplies by air.

Der Führer hat die Einführung eines Ärmelbands
"Afrika" als Kampfabzeichen durch die drei Wehmachtteile befohlen.
Das Ärmelband "Afrika" wird auf dem linken Unterärmel der
Unifrom getragen. Es wurde im Bereich des Heeres verliehen für ehrenvollen
Einsatz auf afrikanischem Boden.
Das Ärmelband "Afrika" verleiht für alle Angehörigen des
Heeres der Oberbefehlshaber der Heeresgruppe Afrika.
TRANSLATED: The Führer ordered the introduction of an
"Africa" cuff
band as a combat insignia by the three branches of the Wehrmacht. The
"Africa" cuff
band is worn on the left lower sleeve of the uniform. It was awarded within the
Army for honorable service on African soil.
The "Africa" cuff
band is awarded to all members of the Army by the Commander-in-Chief of Army
Group Africa.
