A group of three medals awarded to Police Station Sergeant William Henry Craddock, Metropolitan Police. 

WW2 Defence Medal unnamed as issued 
Elizabeth II 1953 Coronation Medal unnamed as issued 
George VI Police Long Service & Good Conduct Medal named to Stn. Sergt. William H. Craddock 

The medals are in good condition and are swing mounted for wear. Comes with original box of issue. 

William Henry Craddock was born 17th April 1902 in Everton, Liverpool. He served in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps from 14th September 1920 to 2nd June 1926 and to the Army Reserve until 13th September 1932. 

He joined the Metropolitan Police on 9th August 1928 with warrant number 115878, his trade on joining shown as Blacksmith. On 5th December 1932 he was posted to K Division (Bow), Dagenham Station (code CG) with shoulder number 31. 11th June 1938 to Plaistow Station (code KO) still K Division. 29th November 1943 H Division (Whitechapel), Bethnal Green station (code HB) with shoulder number 41. 28th January 1946 Limehouse Station (code HH) still H Division. 

William was promoted to Sergeant on 5th December 1932, and Station Sergeant 29th November 1943. He attended a selection board for the rank of Inspector on 26th March 1940 but was not selected. 

On 15th May 1930 he received a commendation for stopping a runaway horse, and another commendation for a similar act on 31st July 1930. A commendation on 9th June 1937 for 27 cases under the Betting Act.

In addition to Police education and technical training and examinations William attended Anti-Gas training course and issued a respirator on 13th November 1936. In 1951 he attended gas and fire drill training. 

He was married to Lillian Rose and they had two adopted children, a boy and girl. Living at 12 Knights Road, Silvertown, London, E16.

William was awarded the Police Long Service medal on 3rd January 1952, resigned from the force on 3rd April 1955, died 29th December 1958.
