A South Atlantic (Falklands) Medal with rosette awarded to 24355441 Private Nick St John Lukey, 2nd Battalion Parachute Regiment, who served in the Intelligence Section, 'B' Company and was critically wounded when a fellow member of 2 Para shot him in the face with an Argentine .45 calibre pistol, which he had taken as a souvenir.

The medal is in good condition and is swing mounted for wear. Comes with box of issue.
Private Nick Lukey served in the Intelligence Section, ‘B’ Company in the Falklands War, taking part in the actions at Darwin, Goose Green and Wireless Ridge.
He was critically wounded when a fellow member of 2 Para shot him in the face with an Argentine .45 calibre pistol, which he had taken as a souvenir. He is said to have believed the pistol to be unloaded when he aimed it at Lukey’s face and pulled the trigger but there was a round still in the chamber. The bullet exiting the back of Lukey’s head.
Lukey survived and after several operations aboard the hospital ship Uganda and in the UK recovered but was medically discharged from the Parachute Regiment in 1984.
